WBC Evolution is focused on ensuring that the competition remains engaging, professionally rewarding, and relevant for competitors and viewers. To that end, we’re excited to announce a new feature for Dublin: live scoring. The WBC Evolution committee and WCE staff have been working together to ensure smooth incorporation of this new element, and we think that it represents a fun new opportunity for audience engagement.
LIVE SCORING
Dublin 2016 will be the first year that WCE will introduce live scoring at the World Barista Championships.
Live scoring will be exclusive to Round One (days one and two), and will not be utilized for the semi-finals or finals rounds. Scoring will not be real time to competition, there will still be judges’ deliberation after each routine. Once the scores have been tabulated from each judge, the live scoring display will update with that competitor’s score and the overall rankings.
In preparation for Dublin, World Coffee Events is working closely with the WBC Evolution Committee to ensure that special attention is given to live scoring technology, judge calibration, and competitor/coach communications. Live scoring will be viewable within the venue, and online for the benefit of all viewers during the event. Only total scores and ranking position will be displayed.
