Yanina Ferreyra
Australia
Project Origin

Please tell us a little about yourself:

I’m Yanina, and I’m a Barista and green coffee buyer. I moved to Australia from Argentina in 2010 and have been working in coffee ever since. I love the coffee origin side of things a lot, and in 2016 I started working for Project Origin.

What are you excited to do in Boston?:

See the Leonard Zakim Bunker Hill bridge, and the cherry blooming trees.

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

5th – Australian Barista Championship 2016
7th – Australian Barista Championship 2017

How do you see the coffee industry changing in the future?:

I see more controlled-processing techniques being used to benefit producers, where climate is not friendly. I also see us adapting to new flavours, and learning a lot more of what coffee can be.

Where do you see yourself in five years?:

Working with producers more often, and hopefully judging WBC and WBrC (fingers crossed!).

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

I love ruins and any historic old site I can visit. I’m very passionate about gardening and also learning about wine!

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WBrC?:

My bosses Habib Maarbani and Sasa Sestic, and my coach and roaster Sam Corra.
