Homeground Coffee Roasters

Please tell us a little about yourself:

I am fascinated by coffee. Coffee continually surprises me and confounds what I already know about it. I hope my zeal for it continues to burn brighter. I run a little cafe in Singapore called Homeground Coffee Roasters, alongside an amazing team. We believe in equipping home brewers, and serving quality coffee on a consistent basis. I love food, slightly less than coffee. My favourite food is Chinese cuisine – particularly Sichuan food. I love Sichuan fried chicken cubes. It’s fiery, exciting, and delicious. I highly recommend everyone to try it at least once in their lives.

What are you excited to do in Boston?:

To put my best foot forward in the World Brewers Cup, and to meet my other counterparts in the competition.

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

Singapore National Brewers Cup 2019 – 1st Place

How do you see the coffee industry changing in the future?:

I hope to see more buy-into specialty coffee, by serving palatable and easy to drink coffee, especially for people new to the industry.

Where do you see yourself in five years?:

I hope to be a part, however small, of making Singapore a coffee destination.

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

FOOD. DOGS. FAMILY. TRAVEL. SHERLOCK HOLMES.

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WBrC?:

I would like to thank the entire team behind Homeground. Homing, our dearest roaster; my 2 coaches, Andrea Tan, and Rodman Chan, who guide me through my entire competition journey. Lastly, Sir John Ryan Ting, and my brothers Peter Andy Ng and Techit, who’ve helped me out in any way they can.
