Please tell us a little about yourself:

I’ve been the owner of an espresso bar in the centre of Zwolle since January 2009. I’m a passionate barista, creative coffee professional, the 2019 Dutch Brewers cup Champion, and Dutch Cup tasting Champion 2019. I enjoy working in the coffee industry. “Brighten the day with a good cup of coffee.”

What are you excited to do in Boston?:

Meeting new people within the coffee scene, finding new trends, and having fun.

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

Dutch Brewerscup Championship 2019, 1st place
Dutch Cuptasting Championship 2019, 1st place
Dutch Cuptasting Championship 2018, 6th place

How do you see the coffee industry changing in the future?:

In the Netherlands, I can see more and more people drinking coffee outside of the home every day. Guests will want to have a clear and transparent view on the bean to cup process, environmental impact on the coffee they are drinking, and want to have fair-trade coffee.

Where do you see yourself in five years?:

I really have no idea. There are lots of people in the coffee industry with my interests, but I will have a relation with coffee, somehow, for sure.

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

Product development and design. The human brain and how we taste.

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WBrC?:

Jan en Tosca (Varietals Coffee, The Netherlands). Frans van den Berg (Coffee Buddy). Marjette Zomer (My wife)
