Desarrolladores De Café

Please tell us a little about yourself:

I am the owner of the coffeeshop and Colombian exporting company, Desarrolladores de Café. I teach  everything about coffee in Medellín, from farm to cup. I work closely with coffee farmers, specifically on fermentation processes, drying methods, and designing cup-profiles that are exposed in the café and in Europe. I am completely passionate about coffee, and also roast the coffee for my shop.

How did you get started in coffee?:

At Caffè Couture & Vienna School of Coffee, where crazy flavors started this fire for specialty coffee for me.

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

National Cup Tasters Champion, 2019
Bavarian Cup Tasters Championship, 2017, 2nd place

What are you excited to do in Berlin?:

I would love to participate in Barista Hustle trainings!

What is your favourite coffee to cup?:

A clean, tealike, floral, Typica FSL from Omar Arango’s “San Luis” farm.

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

I love boxing, muay thai, and sports of almost any kind. I really enjoy nature & travelling :)

Where do you see yourself in five years?:

I see myself changing coffee trading transparency—let’s start with the specialty business.

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WCTC?:

There are two main people that supported me. Markus Gaibl, from Kaffeewerkstatt Kucha—because of him I participated in my first and second championship. He was also my first “client”, that bought coffee from one of my partner farmers. Katerinne Gutierrez from Monteverde farm in Herrera, Tolima also supported me. She trained and pushed me to get as good as possible ;) I’d also like to thank my whole team & family for their support obviously!
