Please tell us a little about yourself:
My name is Jani Mikkonen and I work as a barista and coffee roaster in Artisan Café in Helsinki. Coffee is my biggest passion and I might even say that I can find my smile in the bottom of the cup every day.
How did you get started in coffee?:
It all started from my grandmothers coffee table some 25 years ago. That one day and one very bad cup of coffee changed my life, and encouraged me to jump into a journey that I’m still on.

2018 National Brewers Cup – 1st Place
What is your favorite coffee brewing method and why?:
Really hard to pick only one, but getting a V60 brew recipe bang on for the first time must be one of the most memorable.
What coffee-producing country most interests or excites you?:
Kenya and Ethiopia! Amazing people producing some of the finest coffees in the world. Some of my best coffee related memories are from coffee farms in Nyeri region.
What are your interests outside of coffee?:
Nature, music, food and sports.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?:
Doing the thing I love (coffee)
