Project Description

Hector Hernández
Cafés El Tostadero

Please tell us a little about yourself:

I am passionate about the world of coffee, I live by and for it. I work in a coffee roastery as a quality manager in Zaragoza, Spain.

How did you get started in coffee?:

I started in the coffee world by chance, as I wanted to experience new fields in the world of restoration and found this world so exciting, that I now feel so accomplished.

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

2018 Spanish Cup Taster Champion
2014-2016 & 2018 Spanish Latte Art Champion
2017 International Barista Champion

What are you excited to do while you are in Brazil?:

I would like to visit coffee farms, do some sightseeing around the city, and enjoy the company of the other baristas.

What is your favorite coffee to cup?:

The ones I haven’t tried.

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

I don’t have them, I live for coffee.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?:

Training future coffee professionals, and helping new generations to develop professionally in this sector.

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the competition?:

I would like to thank my colleagues at Cafés El Tostadero, especially Andrea, Luis and Jesús, Mocca Master, Mare Terra, and Complementos del Café.
