Please tell us a little about yourself:

I’m 30 years of age, and 10 of those years have been spent working in the coffee industry – most recently at The Coffee Collective in Copenhagen, Denmark. By education and profession I am an environmental engineer with a specialty in water, solute transport, and contaminated sites. I truly enjoy spending time outside with my wife, little kid, and our chickens.

How did you get started in coffee?:

By working in a juice bar, where the attention and degree of detail in brewing coffee was fascinating. It was around the time when the dane, Casper Rasmussen (The Coffee Collective) had won the 2008 World Cup Tasters Championship, who together with the rest of The Coffee Collective taught/inspired us to work with specialty coffee in the bar.

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

Danish National Cup Tasters Championship 2019, 1st place
Danish Barista Championship 2015, 3rd place

What are you excited to do in Berlin?:

Hopefully get inspired by what has been going on in the coffee industry during the last three years — I haven’t been paying too much attention since I stopped working in the industry.

What is your favourite coffee to cup?:

The Coffee Collective’s filter roast of Finca Vista Hermosa, from Guatemala – it reminds me of home!

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

I love traveling, enjoying food, and in general spending time with friends & family, especially my wife, our kid and our chickens out in the garden. I also really enjoy woodworking and restoration projects

Where do you see yourself in five years?:

???

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WCTC?:

My wife, Camilla Hunner —  a huge thanks for signing me up to the Danish National Championship.
Secondly, the great people behind The Coffee Collective — thank you for giving me enormous support through the years (even after I’ve stopped working in coffee)! I really appreciate all the effort you put into the work you do.
